Linkages: Educate! Advocate! Collaborate!
This website exists to:
promote the gathering and sharing of information regarding syringe access and to educate people about the issues influencing syringe access. Many who oppose syringe access and harm reduction simply know little or nothing about the issue, basing their opinions on fear and feelings, not on fact. Many change their positions after acquiring even basic knowledge about the issue.
advocate for policy change. It is clear that we must make our stand against the Drug War as it impacts the "ordinary" individual, community, and world. It is clear that we must work diligently to counteract the political rhetoric that puts people and communities at risk. It is clear that we must inform the community as a whole so that advocacy for positive change is heard by those in a position to make it happen.
support those who collaborate to make syringe access and policy change a reality. There are many organizations and individuals who are already making syringe access a reality in some way - through syringe exchange, harm reduction services, education of their communities and political leaders, and challenging of the system as it stands. We must encourage others to collaborate with them, supporting comprehensive services and policy change. There is a wealth of information available "out there." This website is an effort to gather and centralize information that will support and further these processes.
The information in the Linkages section is arranged under three general topics: News, Research & Publications, and Organizations.
